Graffiti artist, Barry McGee tats his serifs with a candy striper slant.  The double wide sidewalk and picture lights persuades the diffident urban landscape to transform to gallery art form.  
                                

Bad Rap

The business of graffiti is having a bleak week in NYC.  Lewy BTM's fresh tag on the Brooklyn Bridge was buffed and 5Pointz Graffiti Institute is expected to be razed.  While I'm compassionate to the FBI's interest in maintaining the National Monument's pallid maquillage (A child sporting a smoky eye and rouge comes to mind...it's inappropriate), it's sad to see 5Pointz "Spray and Shouted" from the fabric of the urban skyline. 

Roa Rocks

I first stumbled upon Roa's work when I was googling "graffiti artists" for a client. I think his work is stunning and clever. This Belgian street artist usually uses derelect planes in overlooked urban environments as his canvas- brilliant!




Growing up in the 80's, his inspiration comes from The Beastie Boys/Hendrix mixed with Charles Darwin's "The Origin of Species". A curious recipe but it works!
